Ian Grimshaw
Partner, Solicitor in the Employment Team
Ian is a Partner in the Employment Team, specialising purely in Employment Law. Ian trained with a large regional law firm and qualified in 2006. He went on to gain several years’ experience at Trethowans, before joining Nash & Co in June 2015.
Ian is extremely experienced in advising employers ranging from SMEs through to multi-national household names in respect of dismissals, discrimination, TUPE, redundancies, collective consultation and supporting companies through mergers and acquisitions. Ian also provides advice to independent HR advisors when tricky situations arise which are outside of the normal “day to day” HR issues.
Ian’s aim is to make each and every client feel that they are our only client and to provide a personalised service. Key to this is a full understanding of the business, its ethos and its aims. It is often the case that employers know the law; however, the value that Ian brings to his clients is his ability to apply the law in reaching a solution in line with his client’s aims.
Ian acts for employers in Employment Tribunal claims from the outset of litigation through to representation at the hearing.
Ian has run many training sessions for businesses of all sizes, as well as large groups of independent HR advisors. Ian’s training is informal, but informative: the aim is to ensure that people learn in an atmosphere which is enjoyable and allows people to ask questions in an open environment.
Legal 500 describes Ian as ‘Very commercially minded’ practice head Ian Grimshaw has ‘vast knowledge’ and a track record of handling large-scale redundancies and multi-jurisdiction outsourcings.
