On 23 April, the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) identified a cyber-attack targeting its online systems used by legal aid providers. Initial investigations suggested limited impact, but by 16 May it became clear the breach was far more extensive. The group behind the attack accessed and downloaded a large amount of sensitive personal data belonging to individuals who applied for legal aid since 2010.
