Experienced Employment Lawyers
Further information about the job
We wanted to give you some more information about the work you’d be doing, and the team you’d be joining. So, the Head of the Employment Team, Ian Grimshaw, has given us the the following information. We hope that you find this useful!
We’re an established team in a highly rated firm. We have grown through referrals and we have worked with many of our clients for over a decade.
The team consists of two partners, an associate, a solicitor and two paralegals; however, we need to keep growing to properly service our client base.
We only work with employers. This means that we provide practical advice to our clients who are facing difficult and, at times, apparently impossible situations. We work within the law to ensure that pragmatic solutions to issues are found whilst employees are treated fairly and the values of our clients are adhered to.
Our clients range from SMEs to multinational household names. Each have different needs and we need to ensure that these needs are reflected in the advice we give. As an employment lawyer, you will appreciate that, given the different resources available to these diverse clients, a Tribunal will expect different approaches to be taken to employee problems and we need to reflect that range in the advice that we give.
As well as providing “ad hoc” advice, we represent employers in Tribunals throughout Great Britain and work closely with a selected group of barristers. Our Respondent client base ranges from the small start up businesses through to businesses with tens of thousands of staff. We ensure that our clients receive commercial advice throughout the Tribunal process and that we achieve the best result possible at hearing.
Our approach as a team, is straightforward: we support each other to enable the best service to be given to our clients. We listen to each other’s views and will often discuss cases so that we know that it is being looked at from all angles. We don’t have people working in silos, everyone’s view matters and everyone is encouraged to have input.
Employment law is a wide area of law and at the front line when it comes to the case led developments. We ensure that our team are always at the forefront of those changes so that we can provide the best advice in an ever-changing legal landscape.
We know that, for us, Employment Tribunal claims are par for the course, but never lose sight of the fact that, for an employer it can be a daunting and upsetting process. Our team works with Respondents to ensure that they are supported throughout the Tribunal process and are never left in the dark as to what is happening and why.
We’re looking to expand the team and are keen to find somebody with the ‘right fit’. You will be keen to develop your own practice experience, regardless of how experienced you may be as a lawyer, will be open to new challenges and keen to market your own achievements. You are somebody with significant experience in advising employers in respect of day to day issues, as well as running your own employment tribunal case load from the outset.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your interest and time.
